Paper Craft Crew - Challenge 53

This is my first time entering a card for a Paper Craft Crew (PCC) challenge. Hopefully I did it right!
Here's the layout that we were to follow:
This is my card:
My colors were Pool Party, Calypso Coral & Very Vanilla. I used basic pearls & 1 large pearl for embellishment. The lacey ribbon is from Stampin' Up!; 5/8" Victoria crochet trim. The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up set, From My Heart. DSP is Everyday Enchantment & it is still available on the Clearance Rack, click HERE to view the Clearance Rack.

Another Challenge - FMS 98

This is for Challenge 98 posted on Freshly Made Sketches this week. Click this link to see the challenge details FMS 98.

You'll notice that I changed the orientation of the card just bit. I reversed the main image from the right more to the left & center.
I also put my narrow accent piece near the bottom behind my focal point, mainly because there really isn't a good way to shorten the focal point without ruining the look that I was going for.
Colors used were Bravo Burgandy, Very Vanilla, Basic Black & Crumb Cake.
The faux stitching along the top is done with a paper piercer, a white gel pen gone over with an extra-fine tip black Sharpie. The pearl flowers are made with a XL glue dot on the back of a large half pearl & the ribbon is scrunched & adhered to the glue dot. (Sometimes you have to put a 2nd glue dot before you make it all the way around.) Then use another glue dot to adhere it to your card. The sentiment is from one of this year's Sale-A-Bration sets & is punched out with the Postage Stamp punch from Stampin' Up! & edged in Crumb Cake. The main image was a newspaper print stamp inked with basic black & then cut out with Stampin' Up!'s Dressed Up Framelit, then edged with Crumb Cake. Then I cut a 2nd image cut in Basic Black & adhered the newsprint die cut over the black with it being just a little off-set to create the "shadow" image. The Very Vanilla rectangle and the sentiment piece were stamped with the Very Vintage wheel in Crumb Cake. Hope you've enjoyed my entry to FMS 98.

Get your Mojo 305 & SUO 76 Right Here!

I made this card with the 2 challenges above in mind & for Landon who is entering Kindergarten this fall.
He loves Despicable Me, so I think he'll get a kick out of this card! Handy too that the main character's name is Gru (grew)! Enjoy my fun with pun.

I wish the picture quality was a little better. I think I need either a different camera or some lessons on how to take better pictures!

The little Minion fellows were made using the large & small ticket punches & rounding the top corners. I used the vest from the Owl Builder punch for the bibs on the overalls. Gru is just a tall rectangle with the edges cut in 1/4" from top to bottom. Then you take the parts you trimmed off & invert them so that the widest portion is at the top to become arms. Mount them behind the body. The hands are the flower on the Boho Flower punch; the Minions are trimmed to have 3 fingers & Gru's are trimmed to 4 & 5 fingers (he's a mad scientist - I'm sure he blew off a finger somewhere along the way.) Gru's head is made from the largest Oval punch & then trimmed so that it's rounded up a little. The eyes for all of the characters are from the Owl builder punch.Gru's zipper on his coat & the zippers on the K are just white gel pen with criss-crosses drawn in, the trick to its looking good is to draw on your outer edges first. Gru's nose is just a triangle trimmed to fit his face. His scarf is another oval punch with stripes drawn on & that's about it for Gru & his Minion Crew. The little verse was something I made up, it's printed from my computer in Arial font. There is a little paper piercing in the corners of the gray & along the top & bottom of the yellow rectangle. Colors used were Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight & Pacific Point; Blushing Bride for Gru's face with Crumb Cake being used for the highlighting.
